Our First Blog

1 spectacular event, 3 jeepney stops, 9 poets and a great audience. This was the Berso sa Metro Poetry Jeepney Tour, happened last Saturday, April 17. It was an amazing experience coming from a novice like us.
3 students were rushing to go to Makati after their 4pm class. Oh yeah, better late than never! When we arrived at Powerbooks, Greenbelt 4, we witnessed the balagtasan of Vim Nadera and Michael Coroza. “Alak” (wine) a known beverage to all, you can either love it or hate it, but you can never ignore it. People will drink it when they want it; others prefer to have a “mouthful sip” on it because they want to forget something. “Alak” is the one of the poems that we loved, it really captured the attention of the audience, if you look into a deeper meaning of the verses, there are Memories, Dreams and Nightmares we talked about while drinking our “alak.”

1 train ride, 9 MRT stations and a cab… It was a quite long journey going to Mag:net CafĂ©, but it all paid off when the program started. We arrived early and grabbed the best seats for us. We learned that the theme was like an abstract piece of a painter, the Poet’s Choice. The travel from Taguig, Makati to Katipunan… you will expect that the people are tired already, but surprisingly you can never notice that they are exhausted. Oh well, maybe this was one the sources of energy and motivation of the poets that night, the way they delivered their masterpieces are really lively and over whelming.

To CREATE a poem is a talent; to PROMOTE poetry is a magnificent campaign and to CONTRIBUTE in our literature is an inspiration to all.

1 unforgettable day for 3 students.
